The short version
Huru Browser is a private browser with a one-tap VPN, a video feed, a video downloader and a file manager. There is no account and no sign-up; a profile (name, photo, phone, email) is optional and you can remove it at any time. We do not sell data, we do not keep browsing logs, and we never upload your photos, videos or files. The only data that leaves your phone is described below, and you can switch most of it off in Settings › Privacy & security.
1. Who we are
Huru Browser is published by AdxFuel LLC ("we", "us"). Contact: [email protected]. This policy covers the Android app and the services at hurubrowser.com.
2. What we collect and why
| Data | Purpose | Shared? | Your control |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anonymous device ID — a random ID created on install (shown under Settings › About › Your ID). No name, email or phone number is required. You may add an optional display name. | Tells our server that requests come from a real install, lets support look up your device, and counts users. | No | Clear app data to reset it. |
| App diagnostics — app version, device model, Android version, app language, approximate country (derived from the network by our CDN, never from GPS), and crash reports (no page URLs). | Fix crashes, know which versions and countries need attention. | No | Settings › Privacy & security › Anonymous usage statistics (off = nothing is sent). |
| Usage events — counters such as pages loaded, trackers blocked, downloads completed/failed, VPN connections, which video was watched or liked, which download tool was used, and whether a notification we sent was shown on your phone and whether you opened it. We record hostnames only for download errors, never full URLs, page content, search terms or file names. | Understand which features work and improve them. | No | Same switch as above. |
| VPN connection data — the gateway you connect to, connection success/failure, session length. The VPN tunnel itself is WireGuard; we do not log the websites you visit through it. | Keep the gateways healthy and balanced. | No | Use the browser without the VPN — it is off by default and only starts when you tap it. |
| Optional profile — only what you choose to add under Settings › Profile: a name, a profile photo, a mobile and a WhatsApp number (with country code) and an email address. The email is saved only after you enter the 6-digit code we send to it. | Lets our support recognise you and contact you about your account or a report; the photo and name show on your own profile screen. Never shown to other users. | No — the photo is stored with our storage provider (Cloudflare R2); verification emails are sent through our email provider. | Edit or remove any field in Settings › Profile; removing the photo deletes the file. |
| Video recommendations — which videos in the Video tab you watched, for how long, how far, and whether you liked, shared, saved, skipped or replayed them. | Recommend videos in your language and country first and avoid showing the same video again. | No | Settings › Privacy & security › Anonymous usage statistics (off = no watch history is sent). |
| Video reports — when you report a video: the reason, the note you write, the video and your anonymous device ID. | Review and remove content that breaks our rules. | No | Only sent when you tap Report. |
| Push notification token — a Firebase token, your app language, the video language you chose and the notification types you switched off under Settings › Notifications, so we only send the types you want. | News, videos, VPN and app announcements in your language — only the types you keep on. | Google Firebase (delivery only) | Switch any type off under Settings › Notifications, or all notifications in Android settings; the token is removed when it stops working. |
| Advertising ID — read by the Google AdMob SDK to show ads (the app is free and ad-supported). | Ads, including the optional rewarded ad that unlocks a VPN session. | Google AdMob and its partners under their policies | Reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings › Google › Ads. |
3. What stays on your phone
Browsing history, bookmarks, open tabs, downloaded files, your Huru Browser folder and the private folder, the video-language preference, theme and all other settings are stored only on your device. Photos, videos and audio the file manager shows are read from your phone and are never uploaded. Locked tabs are protected by your phone's own screen lock; we never see your PIN or fingerprint.
4. Permissions we ask for
- VPN — to create the WireGuard tunnel when you tap the VPN button.
- Photos, videos, audio / storage — to list and manage your files in the File manager and save downloads to Download › Huru Browser.
- Notifications — download progress, and the notification types you keep on under Settings › Notifications, if you allow notifications.
- Foreground service — keeps downloads running while the app is in the background.
- Internet / network state — browsing, the VPN, video streaming and downloads.
- Photo picker — choosing a profile photo uses Android's photo picker, which hands the app only the one picture you pick.
We do not request camera, contacts, microphone, precise location or SMS. QR scanning uses Google's built-in scanner.
5. Third-party services
Google AdMob (ads), Firebase Cloud Messaging (notifications), Google Play services code scanner (QR). Video links you paste into the Downloader are resolved by our own servers; the video is downloaded directly to your phone. Websites you visit and videos you watch are governed by their own privacy policies.
Advertising & your choices. Ads are served by Google AdMob and may use the Android advertising ID to show personalised ads; you can reset or delete the advertising ID and opt out of personalisation in Android Settings › Google › Ads. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland we show Google's consent form before any ad is requested; your choices can be changed at any time under Huru Browser › Settings › Privacy & security › Ad privacy options. Ads never appear inside the VPN tunnel or inside web pages — only in Huru's own screens. Google's use of data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
VPN. The VPN tunnel (WireGuard, operated by our Huru VPN service) carries your traffic to the gateway you choose and out to the internet. We do not log the websites you visit or the content of your traffic through the tunnel; gateways keep only aggregate load metrics and the temporary session needed to run the connection. The tunnel starts only when you tap the power button.
6. Retention & deletion
Diagnostics and usage events are kept in aggregate; raw event rows are rotated after a few thousand entries. Raw video-watch events are deleted after 30 days and feed sessions after 60 days; the per-video watch state that keeps the feed fresh stays until you ask us to delete it. Your profile stays until you remove it in the app or ask us to delete it. Push tokens expire after 200 days without use. To delete everything tied to your device ID, email [email protected] with the ID shown under Settings › About, or simply clear the app's data / uninstall — the ID is never linked to you personally.
6a. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA) you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the data we hold about your device, and to object to processing. You can see, change or delete your optional profile yourself in Settings › Profile. For anything else the key is the anonymous device ID under Settings › About — send it to [email protected] and we will act within 30 days. We do not sell personal data.
7. Children
Huru Browser is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
8. Changes
We will post updates on this page and change the effective date above.
